In 2018, I picked up Adirondack Chair Plans from Rockler because they were on sale for $12. Then on March 16, 2020, as Los Angeles was rapidly shutting down for the pandemic and no one knew how long we’d be locked in our homes, I drove to four different hardwood stores and “panic bought” enough western red cedar to build two of these chairs.
But then I got busy with bicycle rides and home schooling and three more films, so the cedar sat in my garage for another three years. I also learned how to use a laser cutter and 3D printer in that time. In May of 2023, I finally started to make the chairs, but again got distracted with camping and life, so didn’t finish them until the end of October.
